Owned by DGMB Casinos, the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City’s Uptown region became the first legal non-Nevada-based casino in America when it opened in 1978. The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City is one of the two newest casinos on the AC Strip in New Jersey’s famous gaming district. Owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, the “Rock and Roll”-themed venue used to be the Trump Taj Mahal until that business’ closure in 2016 and subsequent takeover by Hard Rock. The Hard Rock AC is one of the larger NJ casino resorts, with over 2000 rooms, nearly 170,000 square feet of gaming space, 120 table games of all kinds, and over 2100 brand-new, state-of-the-art slot machines.

While the Hard Rock originally planned to have its sportsbook up in time for its grand opening on June 28, 2018, there just wasn’t enough time to set up a proper sports betting lounge in the general rush. However, the Hard Rock sportsbook launched in the first quarter of 2019. The lounge is everything you’d expect, and in addition to the standard casino and book promos, the Hard Rock frequently comps its legendary hamburgers to active bettors at the property via its “Bet and a Burger” program.

The Ocean Resort Casino opened for business on June 28, 2018, the same day as the neighboring Hard Rock Casino. However, the Ocean Resort is a considerably smaller, more subdued venue, favoring a glitzy “Modern” theme over the more kitschy presentations that most of its competitors offer. However, it’s not exactly a small resort, either, as it boasts nearly 1400 rooms, a 130,000-square-foot main gaming floor, over 2500 slot machines, 120 table games, a poker room, and – naturally – a dedicated sports betting lounge that has been operational since June 30, just two days after the casino officially opened.

Launched on June 28th, 2018, the Ocean Resort sportsbook is provided by the renowned international bookmaking company William Hill out of the UK. This sportsbook comprises 7,500 square feet of area in the center of the Ocean Resort Casino’s main floor, and the bar serving this section is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The sportsbook is open daily from 9:00 AM to midnight, and a state-of-the-art video wall provides customers and bettors with a bright, engaging viewing experience.

The William Hill Sports Book at the Ocean Resort Casino is fully comprehensive, and it even includes live betting (aka in-game betting). Online wagering through the casino’s sportsbook product is forthcoming, though a launch date has not yet been specified.

With 1749 hotel rooms, nearly 226,000 square feet of gaming space, over 5000 slot machines, and a huge variety of table games, Bally’s has everything for even the most discerning casino customers from NJ and beyond.

Adding sports betting to the mix can only increase the cachet of Bally’s Atlantic City going forward, as there’s little question that the Bally’s sportsbook will be one of the finest along the entire AC strip. When it finally opens at its permanent location on the premises in Q1 2019, you can expect the sports betting lounge on-site at Bally’s to be jam-packed with sports fans eager to wager on their favorite teams.

Right now, however, you can wager at Bally’s temporary sportsbook, which opened on August 1, 2018, and is located in the Wild Wild West Casino section of the main property. The Wild Wild West Casino, which opened its doors in 1997, is technically part of Bally’s Atlantic City. However, locals view it as its own entity, primarily due to its “American Old West” theme (replete with “gold mines,” waterfalls, and a running “stream”). While it doesn’t have the floor space or table game/slot machine capacity of Bally’s, the Wild Wild West Casino remains a popular attraction in the area, and the addition of a sportsbook to its portfolio has already been a bright spot in its recent earnings report.

The Wild Wild West sportsbook – which officially opened on August 1, 2018 – is also the site of the Bally’s temporary book (as these venues are one and the same), though it is not clear whether the current location will continue to act as a sports betting satellite terminal once the forthcoming permanent Bally’s book opens in Q2 2019. Owned and operated by MGM Resorts International, the Borgata is one of the largest and most prominent casinos in Atlantic City. While the Borgata is no longer AC’s newest casino (it opened in 2003, while two other AC casinos opened in mid-2018), it’s still the area’s largest hotel, featuring almost 2800 luxury rooms. Its 161,000 square feet of gaming space offers plenty of room for over 180 table games and some 4000 slot machines, and visitors can choose from a variety of fine and casual dining experiences. And, of course, there’s the Borgata sportsbook, which went live on June 14, 2018.

The Borgata sportsbook, called the Borgata Race & Sports Book, is located next to the North Entrance of the main gaming floor, directly next to the Poker Room. For those who bet on the ponies at the Borgata in the past, the new sports betting lounge is situated where the venue’s original racebook section used to be. The lounge features 100 seats, each with their own flat-screen monitors, as well as a massive video wall sporting all the live action of the day, 10 betting windows (with more on the way), and a full-service bar called the Boot & Whip.

The Borgata has a “Tuscany” theme, so if you enjoy your sports betting more with wine than with whine, the Borgata sportsbook will be the place to place your bets. However, the Golden Nugget operates the largest online casino in New Jersey, which was the first Internet-based service to sport more than 400 table games. The Sportsbook at the Golden Nugget first opened its doors on August 15th, 2018. You can find the book off of the Main Atrium, open every day from 10am to 12am. The betting lounge can accommodate up to 100 guests, with over 50 widescreen televisions to watch the biggest sporting events. There are also 5 video walls and monitors that display the latest odds, with self-service betting kiosks for your convenience. The second largest hotel-casino in AC, Harrah’s opened for business in 1980. Its luxury hotel accommodations feature almost 2600 rooms, and the entire property has a “Marina Waterfront” theme. The casino portion of the property has 177,000 square feet of gaming space (only Bally’s has more), which is dedicated to almost 140 table games, a 40-table poker room, and 5567 slot machines. Add a robust Harrah’s sportsbook into the mix, and the venue should attract more eager customers than ever before. And that’s exactly what’s happened.

The Harrah’s sportsbook officially opened its doors on August 1, 2018, in line with the sportsbook offered at its sister property, Bally’s (and Wild Wild West). The Harrah’s book is open every day of the week, and though it’s currently only a temporary setup, the betting lounge is already quite nicely appointed, with 32 leather chairs, five huge HDTVs (with more coming soon), and high-top tables around a central bar just off the main casino floor. Yes, it’s small, but the future Harrah’s sportsbook will make up for that in a big way once its final installation is realized.

When you want to take a break from gambling and sports betting, Harrah’s also features “The Pool,” which is a large, temperature-controlled swimming pool situated under a huge glass dome, surrounded by palm trees and other landscaping accoutrements, making it a popular year-round attraction.
